The Avon VREU Lever for the M53 / FM53 series gas mask allows the user to quickly and easily switch between APR and PAPR/SCBA modes without requiring the removal of the VPU. The VREU simply clips into place and with the VPU in place over it, the lever is easily manipulated even while wearing protective gloves. If you have a M53 or FM53 and are using a VPU system, this small investment is a MUST HAVE item. Even without the use of a VPU, the VREU Lever makes transition between APR and PAPR/SCBA modes much easier.
